OSTWESTING
2 min read"Dein Mut findet Rückhalt" (Your courage finds support) is a nationwide campaign against domestic violence by the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, created by fischerAppelt and photographed by Ragnar Schmuck. In one of its motifs I appear in the background, as the woman in the robe; I was booked through Ostwesting, a Berlin street casting agency.
The shoot took place at the Amtsgericht Schöneberg in Berlin. The concept shows the places where women seek help – at home, at the doctor's, in court – and, drawn in fine black lines beside them, the people who stand by them. The campaign deliberately avoids conventional victim imagery and presents women as strong and capable.
The production was well organised and the team warm and open-minded; I am glad to have contributed to such an important campaign.
